I owe a great debt of thanks to Gerald Michael Anderson for reading my poems
so beautifully on his radio programme.
Gerry Anderson is a legend in Ireland. This man unselfishly gave up a
promising career on the dole and devoted his life to bring sunshine and
happiness into the dull humdrum lives of the people of Ireland. First as a
guitarist in a show band, when he toured the world bringing joy to the many
Irish emigrants who populate this planet called Earth.
Then Gerry Anderson made his mark in the cut-throat world of
broadcasting. The Gerry Anderson Show on BBC radio Ulster has achieved cult
status. Not content with that, Mr. Anderson appears on numerous television
programmes. What a man! He is an example to us all and an inspiration to
the young people of Ireland.
So, Gerald Michael Anderson – thank you. (Oh, and the cheque is in the
post.)
It would be amiss of me not to point out that Mr. Anderson is also a
best selling author. Indeed Mr. Anderson’s books are avidly read by many
leading, eminent, libel lawyers in Ireland.
Is there no limit to the number of strings to this man’s bow? Is there
no limit to his talent? Apparently not.
Genius is often an overworked word but in the case of Mr. Anderson
– it scarce does him justice.
